From a young age Bernard has always had a creative flair, which is why he chose to do a diploma in media. His passion for video production drove him on to achieve a double distinction. Set on following his success at college he was awarded an unconditional offer by prestigious arts university, Ravensbourne.
Whilst studying for a BA in Production Bernard was approached by ThreadsTV (an online fashion publication) to create video content for them. Working for ThreadsTV gave him the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded creatives. He was also able to liaise with multiple team members who had a variety of skill sets. This helped him to plan ahead, visualising the final product well before it was finished. Balancing degree work and working for ThreadsTV wasn't easy, but it gave Bernard the opportunity to produce videos for industry leading brands such as Topman, Lacoste, New Era, and Converse.
After graduating from Ravensbourne with a 2.1 he became head of production at ThreadsTV, overseeing all video content from pre- production all the way through to final delivery. His keen eye for detail kept the content consistent and output high. As a result of this we were voted ‘Britain's coolest style site’, most notably for our slick video content. After working for ThreadsTV for 2 years Bernard began freelancing which resulted in him creating content for a variety of mediums: corporate videos, promos, music videos, documentaries and short films.
After freelancing for 6 months he began to crave the structure of a full-time job. A few months later he secured a job as a video producer for Tag worldwide, a global brand services agency. As a video producer he was required to direct, produce, film & edit video content for Tag & EE's in house production team. Fast forward 2 years and Bernard had worked on over 100 projects and had the opportunity to direct launch videos for various new products, the world's first 4G action camera, which was worth £1.7 million in media value, as well as bespoke content for some of the industry's biggest brands. When projects needed extra resource he managed multiple freelancers & collaborated with specialists from Smoke & Mirrors.
Working within corporate and creative environments has been very educational for Bernard and has challenged him to become more organised, efficient and methodical. He really has tried to do a bit of everything to pick up as many skills as possible. He has never let the quality of his work slip, always trying to improve it. After working for Tag & EE for 3 years Bernard decided to go freelance, in pursuit of more challanging work that involved storytelling. He's passionate, hard working and keen to keep on learning.
